Rehabilitation Center “Steaua Sperantei” - Dorohoi

Foundation “Star of Hope Romania” started its activity in Dorohoi town in 2003, activity regarding recovery and integration in society of children with Down syndrome from Dorohoi town and around. During that time Star of Hope sets up the first day care center for children with Down syndrome. From 2006 Rehabilitation Center “Steaua Sperantei” (Star of Hope) develops its activity in the same building with Kindergarten no.9 “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant”. The community of Dorohoi town can be proud of a model of best practice in the inclusion of children with special needs recognized nationally and internationally.

Rehabilitation Center “Steaua Sperantei” offers support services and counseling for children with special needs and their families.

The beneficiaries of the center are 30 children with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, microcephaly, mental retardation, epilepsy and their parents. Through development of this project in Dorohoi were attracted numerous international specialists who have transferred their knowledge to Romanian specialists and teachers in kindergartens and schools from town.
