Alin Aivănoaiei, Vice President CJ Iasi, deputy Cristina Nikita, deputy Camelia Bogdan and Director of "Star of Hope" Norway, Hakon Skaug and Aurora Vatamaniuc, CEO of the Foundation "Star of Hope" Romania spoke at the conference, expressing the willingness to cooperate and support the Federation of Parents Organizations that have children with disabilities.
"I hope that through this project it will be created innovative ideas and initiatives for legislation concerning young people with disabilities." Said Alin Aivănoaiei, Vice President County Council Iasi.
"Today I am here as a representative from the" Star of Hope "Norway, as well as Norwegian. We are excited about teaming with the "Star of Hope" Romania and I think one of the reasons why this partnership is important is because Norway has gone through the same process of social change. A change in the paper is not change in itself. For these documents to become true, to be implemented, we, in Norway created the Parents associations. After years of activity of these associations, we see clear results in the social field. I think this may be the solution in Romania. This coalition is very important because it can change not only the way a disabled person is perceived in Iasi Bârlad and Huşi, but it can bring change throughout all country. "said Hakon Skaug, Director of" Star of Hope "Norway.
"The strategy behind this project is community-based rehabilitation. The project responds to a need identified by the parents of children with disabilities whom experienced marginalization and insufficient representation in the decision- making structures regarding children and youth with disabilities. A strong federation of Parents Organizations can fight more effectively for the rights of children with disabilities in order to make this a reality. The importance of developing coalitions of parents’ organizations is an issue that is present in the World Report on Disability. ", said Gabriela Răducanu, project manager.
Deputy Cristina Nikita has reiterated her willingness to fight for the rights of people with disabilities.
During its press conference, those present had the opportunity to share in the work of the organizations they represented.
Federation of Parents who have children with disabilities aims to be involved in different areas: the formulation of policies, laws, strategies that influence the lives of children with disabilities.
